Participation in UN Peacekeeping Operations

China actively participates in UN peace-keeping operations, and is the largest troop-contributing country among the permanent members of the Security Council as well as a major financial contributor. 

As of September 2020, China had participated in 25 UN peacekeeping missions, involving a total of over 40,000 Chinese military peacekeepers and costing 16 lives of Chinese service members. Activities undertaken by China's military in mission areas include the building or repairs of roads, totaling 17,000 kilometers in length; removal of more than 14,000 landmines and unexploded ordinance devices; transportation of 1.2 million tons of supplies, covering a total distance of 13 million kilometers; medical care and rescue provided for more than 246,000 people; and conduct of more than 450 armed escorts and patrols.  

China joined the UN Peacekeeping Capability Readiness System (UNPCRS) in September 2015 and now has in place an 8,000-strong standby force of UN peacekeepers. The acceptance process at Level 1 for the standby units was completed in September 2017; 13 units were elevated to Level 2 in October 2018 after an assessment and advisory visit from the UN; and six of these 13 units were elevated to Level 3 in 2019 and 2020. 

China had trained more than 1,500 peacekeepers from more than 60 countries by September 2020. The statistics of August 2020 showed that 2,521 PLA officers and soldiers were deployed in eight UN peacekeeping missions as well as in the UN headquarters.  

參加聯(lián)合國(guó)維和行動(dòng)

中國(guó)積極支持聯(lián)合國(guó)維和行動(dòng)，是聯(lián)合國(guó)維和行動(dòng)的主要出資國(guó)之一，是安理會(huì)常任理事國(guó)中第一大出兵國(guó)。截至2020年9月，中國(guó)軍隊(duì)已累計(jì)參加25項(xiàng)聯(lián)合國(guó)維和行動(dòng)，派出維和軍事人員4萬(wàn)余人次，16名中國(guó)軍人犧牲在維和一線。中國(guó)軍隊(duì)在維和任務(wù)區(qū)新建、修復(fù)道路1.7萬(wàn)余千米，排除地雷及各類未爆物1.4萬(wàn)余枚；運(yùn)送物資120萬(wàn)余噸，運(yùn)輸總里程1300萬(wàn)余千米；接診救治病人、搶救傷員24.6萬(wàn)余人次；完成武裝護(hù)衛(wèi)、長(zhǎng)短途巡邏等任務(wù)450余次。

2015年9月，中國(guó)加入新的聯(lián)合國(guó)維和能力待命機(jī)制，建設(shè)8000人規(guī)模維和待命部隊(duì)。2017年9月，中國(guó)完成維和待命部隊(duì)在聯(lián)合國(guó)的一級(jí)待命注冊(cè)工作。2018年10月，13支分隊(duì)高標(biāo)準(zhǔn)通過(guò)聯(lián)合國(guó)組織的考核評(píng)估，晉升至二級(jí)待命狀態(tài)。2019年至2020年，聯(lián)合國(guó)將上述13支二級(jí)待命狀態(tài)分隊(duì)中的6支分隊(duì)提升至三級(jí)待命狀態(tài)。中國(guó)積極為各國(guó)培訓(xùn)維和人員，截至2020年9月已經(jīng)為60多個(gè)國(guó)家培訓(xùn)了1500余名維和人員。2020年8月，2521名中國(guó)官兵正在8個(gè)維和特派團(tuán)和聯(lián)合國(guó)總部執(zhí)行任務(wù)。
