| The developer Sigma plans to build a Christian theme park in Mallorca, Spain, the first of its kind in Europe, the Guardian reported. With an investment of 10 million euros, the development will be built on seven hectares and offer visitors everything from the last supper to "live resurrections" in a rolling program of shows repeated through the day. The park intends to build replicas of, among other things, the Wall of Lamentations and a Roman court house. But the plan is yet to be approved by the local government. |

| A study by University of Westminster scientists shows that shopping has a similar effect on the brain to watching pornographic films, the Daily Telegraph reported. Consumers offered discounts or other promotions on a range of consumer goods showed a mental response resembling that of sexual arousal, the researchers found. Having wired up 50 volunteers, the scientists monitored their eye movements and emotional responses to the products and graded them on a scale of 1 to 10. A high of 10 is the equivalent to severe trauma, which is rarely seen and could be dangerous. But a score of between 5 and 7 is the kind of excitement a body has to erotic images such as pornography. One Marmite promotion, to get a free audiobook featuring the children's character Horrid Henry, registered a score of up to 5.8 among the consumers. |

| A mother who became so obsessed with a computer game that she left her children to eat cold, baked beans from the tin has been sentenced to six months imprisonment, suspended for two years, and banned from using computers, the Telegraph reported. The 33-year-old widow also allowed her German Shepherd and lurcher dogs to starve to death and left them rotting in the dining room for two months as she played Small World on the internet almost non-stop. She's been banned from keeping animals and was ordered to do 75 hours of unpaid work. |
