State Councilor Zhou Yongkang met with a Vietnamese delegation led by Nguyen Khanh Toan, deputy minister of public security in Beijing Thursday.

The delegation will attend the second meeting on the two countries' cooperation in combating crimes and ensuring security in border areas, which will be co-chaired by Nguyen Khanh Toan and his Chinese counterpart Meng Hongwei.

Zhou, also China's public security minister, said China and Vietnam have strengthened their cooperation in public security in recent years.

The two sides have maintained stability in border areas by combating crimes such as trafficking of women, children and drugs, Zhou said.

He said he hopes the two sides can continue to cooperate and further the cooperation in the fields of combating crimes, personnel training and police equipment.

Noting that Vietnam valued friendly ties with China, Nguyen Khanh Toan said the Vietnamese public security ministry would further exchanges and cooperation with China.
