Women Face Dilemma on Child-Bearing

In three cities including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, some 20 percent of the women with an age between 15 to 59 said they are not willing to bear children even they get married, the Shanghai Evening News reported Monday.

In this survey, 24.7 percent of the young women surveyed supported the view of not giving birth to children, higher than the average standard. The women with secondary and high education in this group had a ratio of 22 percent and 21.6 percent respectively, higher than the average and also the low educated.

Those young women with great prospect do not want to bear children for fear that they would lose their jobs which are not easy to come by. But they also face a great pressure from their family.
