Water recycling is a key project in Beijing's quest to hold a "Green Olympics."

Beijing plans to reuse water from Qinghe Wastewater Reclamation Plant, one of nine planned wastewater reclamation plants in Beijing.

Qinghe Wastewater Reclamation Plant is the largest in China. It is composed of an ultrafilter membrane and granular-activated carbon processes, and can handle a maximum inflow of 80,000 tons a day.

Water successfully filtered through this facility can be used as landscaping water or to meet other urban needs. This move could cut the amount of fresh water used in Beijing by 30 million cubic meters annually.
