Pakistan not to attend Bonn conference

The Pakistani government has decided not to attend Bonn conference scheduled in December following a top-level meeting held in Pakistan's eastern city of Lahore on Tuesday, reported local media Geo.
The decision was made at a federal cabinet meeting chaired by the Pakistani Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani in reaction to the recent NATO cross-border air strikes in Pakistan's northwest tribal area of Mohmand Agency along the Afghan border, which killed 24 Pakistani troops and wounded 13 others.
Immediately following the incident that happened on early Saturday morning, the Pakistani government decided to close the NATO supply lines in Pakistan and ordered the United States to vacate a key airbase in the country's southwest Balochistan province within 15 days.
The government also said that it would reserve the rights to take further actions against the NATO attack that has seriously violated Pakistan's sovereignty and deeply hurt the feeling of the nation.
Tuesday's decision to shun a conference scheduled to be held in Bonn of Germany on Dec. 5 to discuss Afghanistan-related issues is one of the latest further actions taken by the Pakistani government in response to the NATO strikes.
