The Iranian deputy energy minister said the value of Iran's electricity and related service exports will reach 4 billion U.S. dollars in the current Iranian calendar year ending on March 19, the local English-language Tehran Times daily reported Wednesday.

"Iran's electricity and related technical and engineering service exports will reach 4 billion U.S. dollars this year, of which the net electricity exports will be worth one billion U.S. dollars," Mohammad Behzad said Tuesday.

During the first half of the current Iranian calendar year, starting from March 20, 2011, Iran's electricity exports to neighboring countries reached 4 billion kilowatt per hour (kwh), said Behzad.

"Iran currently exchanges electricity with Turkey, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iraq," he said, adding that the country's electricity export to Iraq this year reached its highest volume.

Iran is currently negotiating with Turkey to increase electricity exports.
