?Iran's Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi said Monday that the Islamic Republic is ready to examine evidences on alleged Iranian involvement in a plot of assassinating the Saudi ambassador to the United States, the official IRNA news agency reported.

Salehi said that Iran has asked the United States to submit any information related to their claims of plot, adding that Iran is ready to examine the evidences, even if fabricated, "seriously and patiently," according to the report.

The U.S. Justice Department alleged last Tuesday that Iran is involved in a plot to kill Saudi Ambassador to Washington Adel Al- Jubeir.

Salehi also urged the Saudi authorities to exercise discretion about the recent anti-Iran allegation by the United States and not to be entrapped by the publicity stunt, according to the local satellite Press TV.

The Saudi authorities are "well aware" that the U.S. allegation against the Islamic Republic seeks to cause a rift between the countries in the region, said Salehi.

Meanwhile, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said Monday that "despite growing military threats and political pressure, Iran will never retreat one step and will firmly resist such extortionist acts," the Press TV reported.

Khamenei made the remarks when addressing a crowd in Iran's Kurdish city of Paveh in the western province of Kermanshah, referring to the U.S. recent claims of alleged Iranian involvement in a plot of assassinating the Saudi ambassador to Washington.

He said Sunday that Iran will confront any U.S. act against the country under the pretext of alleged assassination plot.

U.S. officials said that the country was working with its partners to impose comprehensive sanctions on Iran, including sanctions on the Central Bank of Iran.
