China and Germany on Friday reaffirmed their commitment to seeking all-round development of bilateral ties.

The pledge came out of the meeting between top Chinese political advisor Jia Qinglin and Jens Bohrnsen, president of the German Bundesrat, or federal council.

Bohrnsen is leading a 70-strong delegation on a week-long visit to China.

Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference(CPPCC), welcomed Bohrnsen, who was the first president of German Bundesrat to visit China since 2005.

Jia reviewed the sound growth of China-Germany relations, highlighting leaders'close contacts, a robust trade growth and close communication and coordination on international issues.

Jia said Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao's talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Tuesday would definitely boost political trust and cooperation for a stronger bilateral strategic partnership.

Jia appreciated the German government's adherence to the one-China policy, calling for Germany to stick to the policy and support the peaceful reunification of China.

Jia said the CPPCC would like to increase exchanges with the German Bundesrat, enhance understanding, substantiate friendly cooperation and contribute to all-round development of China-Germany ties.

Bohrnsen said he was impressed with China's rapid growth and the German Bundesrat stood ready to work closely with the CPPCC and advance relations.

Bohrnsen had visited north China's Tianjin city on Thursday. He will also travel to Shanghai for the ongoing World Expo and visit the port city of Dalian, in northeast China.
