Pakistani Taliban on Thursday threatened to halt the foreign relief in Pakistan from the United States and its allies, local media reported.

Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman Azam Tariq said that foreign relief workers are not acceptable in Pakistan and they will be attacked, according to local private TV channel Express.

"We will ourselves distribute relief under leadership of our chief Hakimullah Mehsud among the people if the government assures us that none of our members will be arrested," Tariq said.

Two weeks earlier, the TTP spokesman urged the Pakistani government to reject American aid for the people hit by the country's worst floods, saying that the Taliban faction will give 20 million U.S. dollar aid if the U.S. aid is rejected.

The most devastating floods in Pakistan's living memory have affected up to 20 million people and killed estimated 1,600, prompting the UN to prepare an appeal for hundreds of million dollars for immediate relief.
