China, Kyrgyzstan pledge to further enhance ties

China and Kyrgyzstan pledged to further enhance the bilateral ties during talks between Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping and visiting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbayev on Wednesday.
Hailing the development of China-Kyrgyzstan relations in the past 18 years, Xi said the two countries had witnessed increasing mutual understanding and trust, as well as reciprocal cooperation.
China and Kyrgyzstan had resolved border issues and signed a treaty of cooperation, which laid a solid legislative foundation for the development of bilateral relations.
The two sides also gave each other firm support on major issues of concern, Xi said.
He said the Chinese government attached high importance to relationship with Kyrgyzstan, and would enhance the traditional friendship, expand bilateral cooperation in such areas as economy and trade, investment, communication, transportation, culture and security.
Kazakbayev thanked China for its long-term assistance and support. He said Kyrgyzstan would abide by the treaty and other bilateral documents.
Kazakbayev said China was Kyrgyzstan's good neighbor and friendly partner. The relationship with China was one of the priorities of Kyrgyzstan's diplomacy.
Xi said China would coordinate more closely with Kyrgyzstan in multilateral frameworks such as the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and further promote the China-Kyrgyzstan relations.
Kazakbayev said Kyrgyzstan would strengthen exchanges and communication with China and promote bilateral comprehensive cooperation, strictly fight the "three forces" of terrorism, separatism and religious extremism.
Kazakbayev is paying an official visit to China from Aug. 25 to 29 at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi.
