Russia does not support a final document distributed at an international nuclear conference in Iran, which gathered top officials and experts from 56 countries, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said Friday.

"We consider the final document drafted by the Iranian side following the Tehran conference on disarmament and nonproliferation as nothing more than a resume by its chairman reflecting exclusively his private opinion," the spokesman Andrei Nesterenko said, quoted by the RIA Novosti news agency.

"The document was not discussed by the event's participants and it was not submitted for approval by delegates," he said, without elaborating on the essence of the document.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov attended the conference on disarmament and nonproliferation, entitled Nuclear Energy for All, Nuclear Weapons for None, which was held in Tehran on April 17-18.

The United States and other Western countries suspect Iran of developing nuclear weapons under the guise of a civilian nuclear energy program and are seeking new sanctions following Iran's move to enrich uranium to 20 percent.
