Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday told a meeting of Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO)'s Central Council that he is ready to resume peace talks with Israel till it stops settlement in occupied territories and recognizes borders of the future Palestinian state.

"If settlement stopped completely for a specific period and borders of a statehood within the 1967 borders, we will go to negotiations," Abbas said before the meeting in Ramallah.

Abbas also called on the international community "to recognize the reference of the negotiations" that involve a Palestinian state in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

He added that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's decision to temporarily halt settlement activities in the West Bank "is not considered a stop of the settlement activities."
