Philippine police have identified a total of 183 suspects, including members of the Ampatuan family, in the Maguindanao massacre that claimed 57 lives including women and journalists.

Philippine Acting Justice Secretary Agnes Devanadera said in Friday's press briefing that the police identified more suspects, in addition to the 53 suspects it identified Thursday.

The suspects "were identified by our witnesses who have now surfaced and completed [their testimonies] on all aspects of the massacre," she said.

Devandera said 90 percent of the total 183 suspects are members of the civilian volunteer organizations. The others are members of the Ampatuan clan -- one of the most powerful political families in southern Philippines.
