Two coordinated explosions in the Iraqi city of Ramadi, capital of Anbar province, on Sunday, killed two people and injured eight others, a well-informed police source said.

"The latest reports said that two were killed and eight injured in the double bombings at a parking-lot in Ramadi," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Earlier, the source said seven people were wounded by two car bombings at the parking-lot which is close to a police headquarters in central Ramadi, some 110 km west of Baghdad.

The source said later that a booby-trapped car went off, which was shortly followed by another blast of an explosive charge planted in a nearby car.

The blasts destroyed several nearby cars and caused damages to nearby buildings, the source said, adding that the incident is under investigation.

Iraqi security forces cordoned off the area, while ambulances transferred the victims to the city hospital, the source said.

Violence and deadly attacks recently hit the once volatile province of Anbar, which has been relatively calm for more than two years after Sunni tribes and anti-U.S. insurgent groups turned to cooperate with the U.S. troops and Iraqi security forces against al-Qaida in Iraq network.
