Afghan Independent Election Commission spokesman Noor Mohammad Noor said Tuesday the presidential election would go for a run-off on Nov. 7.

Afghan president Hamid Karzai said at a press conference he would accept any decision made by the country's election body.

The UN-backed Electoral Complaints Commission said on Monday the Afghan presidential election has been affected by widespread fraud and ordered the IEC to correct the results.

Preliminary results showed Karzai won 54.6 percent, but the ECC decision pushed Karzai's total below the 50 percent, which is needed to avoid a run-off.

Based on its investigation, the ECC has ordered the IEC to invalidate 210 polling stations around the country where the ECC found clear and convincing evidence of fraud.

The ECC also decided that 18 polling stations quarantined by the IEC may be included in the results because it found no clear evidence of fraud.
