Hurricane Lgor reachs category 4 in Atlantic

Hurricane Lgor reached category 4 on the five-category Saffir-Simpson scale on Sunday in the Atlantic Ocean, 1,800 km from the Lesser Antilles in the southeast Caribbean.

According to the U.S. National Hurricanes Center (NHC), Lgor is moving at the speed of 220 km per hour in the Atlantic, but it has not caused any risk to the Caribbean islands.

There have been nine tropical storms and four hurricanes in the Atlantic since June 1, of which three reached category 4.

Meanwhile, according to the U.S. National Administration of Oceans and Atmosphere, about eight to 12 hurricanes would affect the Caribbean, Central America, the Gulf of Mexico and North America this season.

The hurricane season in the Atlantic began on June 1 and will finish on Nov. 30. Among thee hurricanes, four will come with winds of over 177 km hour.
