Iran arrests 30 on 'US backed' cyber war charges
March-15-2010

An Iranian court announced that it has arrested 30 suspects on charges of being involved in U.S.- backed cyber war against the country, the semi-official Fars news agency reported on Sunday.

The country's security forces have identified the most important U.S.-backed networks of cyber war and have arrested 30 suspects, Fars cited a statement issued by Tehran's Public and Revolutionary Court on Saturday.

According to the report, the statement said the networks, launched by Iranian opposition groups, received U.S. aids.

The statement said Washington has provided Iranian opposition groups and networks with 70 million U.S.-made web filter-pass softwares to destabilize the country.

The networks, with the U.S. help, attempted to gather intelligence from inside the country, especially to identify the country's nuclear scientists, the report said.

Iranian security officials have warned that to affect the public opinion and to raise unrest in the country, the United States has sought to massively use satellite stations and internet networking in the recent years, a charge that Washington has denied.
