In the first half of August, Typhoons Darmey and Saola battered China's Jiangsu and Fujian Provinces. Later, the heaviest Typhoon Haikui landed on Zhejiang Province, which brought heavy rains, landslides and floods in many areas of China.

According to the Ministry of Civil Affairs and National Disaster Prevention Office, more than 30 million people from 12 provinces including Hebei, Liaoning, and Jiangsu were affected by the three typhoons.

They also caused 51 deaths with 21 people still missing. They caused an estimated 66 billion yuan, or 10 billion US dollars in direct economic losses.
