With November's inflation rate rising 5.1 percent year on year and hitting a 28 month high, Chinese consumers are concerned about future prices. Will they continue to rise or will they fall? A spokesman for the National Bureau of Statistics says the government is confident it can maintain stable prices.

Sheng Laiyun, spokesman of National Bureau of Statistics, said, "We have carried out surveys in 50 cities. The results show that vegetable prices were 10 percent lower in late November than earlier in the month. There is a sufficient supply of major products and there shouldn't be any carryover effects in December. Therefore we are confident prices will stabilize in December."
