South Korea's kimchi crisis has caught the attention of Chinese businesses. In northeast China's Jilin province, factories have already exported more than 260 tons of cabbage to South Korea. And they're still working hard to meet demand.

As the key ingredient in kimchi, South Korea's traditional dish, surging cabbage prices are causing a food crisis in the country.

To combat the shortage, South Korea has increase its import of cabbage. And China's cabbage processors are speeding up production, to take advantage of heightened export demand from its neighbor.

Hu Changsheng, Official of Jilin Entry-Exit Inspection & Quarantine Bureau said "This type of cabbage is especially suitable for making into kimchi."

Analysts say cabbages exported to South Korea are different from the type consumed by Chinese consumers. As such, the increased exports won't have a big impact on the domestic market. As recent data shows, both price and supply of the vegetable on the Chinese market, remain stable.
