Staying with happenings within the country, the Sanxingdui Museum in Sichuan province has finished restoring a group of cultural relics damaged during the Wenchuan earthquake in May, 2008.

60 artifacts have their new old look, five bronze vessels and 55 ceramic pieces. The oldest date back to the Han Dynasty more than two thousand years ago. All passed muster by professional archeologists, who expressed admiration for a job well done. The project took museum technicians five months. They took special care to restore the general feel as well as the look.

The pieces all came from the Nanchong Cultural Heritage Bureau, which was in one of the worst hit areas. Provincial authorities say more than three thousand artifacts were damaged to some degree during the Wenchuan quake.

This successful restoration is expected to supply valuable experience and know-how for the ongoing repairs across Sichuan.
