Cold weather affects China

As China has been hit with severe cold weather and heavy snow over the last week, the country is making all-out efforts to prepare against continuing low temperatures.

The majority of northern China has been experiencing low temperatures and strong winds.
Meanwhile, the National Meteorological Administration is forecasting that almost all of southern China will soon be covered by snow or rain, with some provinces expecting storms.
Traffic authorities in these regions have launched various emergency plans to ensure smooth and safe transportation. Roads will not be closed unless visibility drops below 50 meters or ice on the road affects safety.
The cold weather has also frozen a good number of travel plans. Travel agencies say November should have been a hot month, but heavy snow has discouraged some people from traveling to the northern regions. This has led to a price drop in some of these areas.
Heavy snow has also stricken China's agricultural production. Vegetable prices have seen a rise in some regions. In light of this, many residents are busy ensuring they have enough food supplies.
In rural areas, farmers are struggling to protect crops against low temperatures. With the help of agricultural technicians, many farmers have been able to maintain normal production.
