Ningxia has gained 31 million yuan (US$4.8 million) from the central government to finance the region's nine special education schools by 2011, according to the region's development and reform commission. The schools are listed in National Plan of Building Special Education Schools in Wild Middle and West Regions.
In 2011, the National Development and Reform Commission allocated 2.8 million yuan (US$432,242) of the central governmental budget to Ningxia. The fund was designated to improving facilities of the special education center in Zhongwei city only.
