Chinese swimmers continued to rule the pool on the second day of the 7th Asia Swimming Championships by winning six of the seven gold medals on offer.

The events of the second day include men's 100m butterfly, men's 400m IM, men 800m freestyle relay, women's 200m freestyle, women's 200m breaststroke, women's 50m butterfly and women's 1500m freestyle.

Singapore's Tao Li broke China's monopoly of gold medals by winning the women's 50m butterfly, coming in first ahead of teammate Yeo Joscelin and China's Guo Fan, who clocked 27.57 seconds to finish third.

Up till Monday, the Chinese swimmers have won 13 of the 14 gold medals on offer since Sunday.

Organized by the Singapore Swimming Association (ASS) and the Singapore Sports Council (SAC), the championships is being held from March 5 to 10 at the Singapore Sports School, drawing some 300 swimmers from 19 countries and regions.

The four-day synchronized swimming competition, which started on Monday, is also part of the championships.

The Asia Swimming Championships is a quadrennial event, with the inaugural one held in 1980 in Dacca, Bangladesh.
