The board of directors of the Nicaraguan championship team, Real Esteli, and the Spanish club Real Madrid on Thursday signed a declaration of intent to encourage sports cooperation and promotion.

"Once this cooperation agreement between the board of directors of Real Esteli and Real Madrid is signed, it will create an alliance between both parties and it will also include the exchange of players, coaches and administrative staff," said, Moises Avalos, spokesman of the Nicaraguan Soccer Federation ( Fenifut).

Avalos said that the Fenifut began working towards this agreement in 2009. On Dec. 15, Nicaraguan ambassador to Spain August Zamora signed a declaration of intent (pre-agreement) with Real Madrid president Julio Gonzalez.

This declaration will allow for the construction of the Partner Sports School, sponsored by the Real Madrid foundation in Esteli, Nicaragua, where at risk children between the ages of 6 and 17 years old train.

This school is part of the soccer academy in Esteli department, 148 kilometers north of Managua, where more than 300 children and adolescents currently participate in the municipal soccer leagues.

According to Fenifut's electronic press release, the Partner Sports School in Nicaragua works to promote soccer as a way to develop sports abilities among children and adolescents, and to provide training for marginalized youth and adolescents.

The release added that the school will be inaugurated under the theme: "They play, we teach."

The final agreement will be signed in the first quarter of 2011, once the technical and infrastructure details of the school have been defined.
