Bayern Munich receives 22nd title in Bundesliga

Robben smoothed the way for Bayern's 22nd title with his double while Bochum and Hertha Berlin slipped into second division in the last match day on Saturday.

Bayern started as expected aggressive and dominant while relegated team Hertha Berlin was concerned about their last performance at first division.

With 19 minutes into the match, Bayern striker Ivica Olic slotted home from 14 meters after a perfect build-up play by midfielder Arjen Robben. Hertha Berlin didn' t showed any will to go for a goal at their last Bundesliga performance until the end of the first half.

The Bavarians seemed happy with the neat 1-0 lead but they were punished by Berlin at the 59th minute. Striker Adrian Ramos netted a diagonal pass from close distance by midfielder Cicero.

Bayern pilled on the pressure and took the gloves off; midfielder Arjen Robben donated two goals to obtain the championship bowl at Berlin Olympia stadium with a 3-1 victory over relegated Berlin.

"It is marvellous that we kept the rhythm and today gained a victory, therefore we will have a splendid celebration tonight" , said champion coach Louis van Gaal.

Schalke was held to a goalless draw in Mainz after evenly balanced 90 minutes. Schalke striker Jefferson Farfan ensured the first highlight of the match when he rattled the right post from 11 meters.

In the 34th minute, Schalke youngster goalie Manuel Neuer turned a shot by Andre Schuerrle from close distance around the bar. He also saved a self induced penalty 17 minutes before final whistle.

However, both teams failed to exploit their scoring opportunities during the 90 minutes.

Schalke defends second position and qualifies for Champions League while new boys Mainz ends the season on 9th position.

Bremen ends the season on third position with the possibility to enter Champions League through qualification.

Hamburg sits on seventh position without the opportunity to participate at any international competition.

Leverkusen shared points with Monchengladbach after a dull 1-1.

At the 34th minute, striker Patrick Helmes opened the scoring for Leverkusen. Monchengladbach needed only 21 minutes to level the score through defender Roel Brouwers.

Leverkusen completes the season on fourth position to take part in European League while Monchengladbach finishes on 12th position.

Freiburg surprisingly turned a 1-0 deficit into a 3-1 victory over Dortmund.

Dortmund terminates on fifth position to partake at European League while Freiburg remains on 14th position.

Stuttgart shares points after a 1-1 against Hoffenheim. Stuttgart gets hold of the last European League spot with sixth position while Hoffenheim sticks on 11th position.

Last season Bundesliga champion Wolfsburg defeated Frankfurt 3-1.

Wolfsburg midfielder Zvjesdan Misimovic opened the scoring 21 minutes into the match; defender Sascha Riether and striker Edin Dzeko extended the lead.

Dzeko marked his 22nd goal this season and is the Bundesliga top scorer of the season 2009/10.

Minutes before final whistle Frankfurt striker Halil Altintop scored the consolation goal.

Bochum slipped into second division after they lost at relegation battle 3-0 to Hannover.

Hannover midfielder Arnold Jan Bruggink smoothed the way for the victory at the relegation battle with his early opener.

Striker Mike Hanke and midfielder Sergio Pinto sealed a 3-0 victory for Hannover. Hannover ends the campaign on 15th position.

Nuremberg defeats Cologne thanks to a brilliant dead ball goal by midfielder Andreas Ottl two minutes before the final whistle.

Nuremberg will have to participate at a relegation match against second division team Augsburg to remain in first division.
