Klose to rest for two weeks for ankle injury
Adjust font size:

German forward Miroslav Klose will rest for at least two weeks because of ankle injury, Bayern Munich said on Sunday.

The 30-year-old forward damaged a tendon when he went over on his right ankle during the 3-0 win at Bochum on Saturday. The club said he would have to undergo an operation within the next couple of days.

"It's a serious blow of course, bitter news," Bayern coach Juergen Klinsmann said.

"All we can hope is that the operation goes well and Miro is back in training soon," he added.

Klose had to come off in the 31st minute of the game at Bochum after stepping into a hole in the pitch and turning his ankle. He will definitely miss the upcoming Bundesliga meeting with Karlsruher SC and Germany's World Cup qualifiers against Liechtenstein (March 28th) and in Wales (April 1st). A week after that, Bayern are in the Champions League quarterfinal action.
