Books written by a paralyzed Chinese writer Shi Tiesheng are displayed during a memorial meeting at 798 art zone in Beijing, capital of China, Jan. 4, 2011. Shi Tiesheng, best known for his essay "The Temple of Earth and I," died of a cerebral hemorrhage in Beijing on Dec. 31, 2010. Born in 1951, Shi Tiesheng was paralyzed in an accident at the age of 21. Later, he suffered from a kidney illness and had to receive dialysis. Death and suffering have been two major themes of Shi's works. In "The Temple of Earth and I," he wrote that death "is a celebration promised for every one." [Xinhua/Zhu Xilei]
