More than a third of parents find getting their children to leave the TV or finish a computer game more stressful than the commute to work, the Daily Mail reported.

No longer happy with a bed time story, youngsters now have to be bribed to go to bed as parents tackle the nightly cries of "just let me get to the end of this level." The promise of a later weekend bedtime is used by 17% of parents, 28% are told they can watch a bit more TV and 6% are given sweets. It takes more than 20 minutes for parents to get their children to bed on average.

Munch Bunch carried out the survey as it tries to increase the number of parents reading bedtime stories. "Storytelling should be a priority in getting a child ready for bed," Children's author Simon Bartram said. "It is important for the development of the child's reading, writing and creative skills."
