Iran's ambassador to London to be recalled
Adjust font size:

Iran will recall its ambassador to London for consultations amid disputes over the country's presidential election, the official IRNA news agency quoted a senior lawmaker as saying on Tuesday.

Mahmoud Ahmadibighash, a member of parliament's national security and foreign policy commission, said that the decision to temporarily recall Iran's ambassador was made during a meeting between the commission and Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki.

The report, however, has not been officially confirmed by Iran' s Foreign Ministry.

Iran has condemned the interference by certain foreign states in the country's internal affairs, saying that some European countries, Britain in particular, have played a major role in provoking the post-election violence.

Some university students had planned to stage a rally outside the British embassy in Tehran on Tuesday to protest against British interference in Iran's June 12 election results.

However, Iran's Interior Ministry denied to issue any permission for the students rally outside the British embassy in Tehran, according to Iran's satellite Press TV website.
