Militants attack NATO supply terminal in NW Pakistan
Adjust font size:

Local militants on Monday attacked a supply terminal in northwestern Pakistan for NATO forces in Afghanistan, the second of such attacks within two days, local television reported.

About 50 militants attacked the terminal with container trucks near the city of Peshawar, capital of North West Frontier Province (NWFP), said the reports.

The attackers threw gasoline to the container trucks carrying supplies and set off explosions, reports said.

There is no immediate report of casualties.

The militants also torched some trucks carrying supplies for NATO forces near Peshawar on Sunday.

The supply route in Pakistan, a lifeline for U.S.-led NATO forces in Afghanistan, has been under attack in the past months.

The lifeline supplies, accounting for about 75 percent for western forces in Afghanistan, pass through Pakistan to Afghanistan after being transported to the port city of Karachi.

Reports said that NATO is exploring other routes in northern Afghanistan due to increasing attacks.
