Adjust font size:

Visiting Moroccan delegation chief Abdelhaq Tazi said in Beijing on Monday that Morocco and China enjoy good political relations, expressing the hope that the two sides could further enhance bilateral economic and trade relations.

Tazi, chief of parliamentary group and member of the executive committee of the Independence Party of Morocco (IPM), made the remarks during an interview with the Chinese media.

He said Morocco and China share same or similar stances on many regional and international issues. The two sides also have good cooperation in some international organizations such as in the UN.

Morocco supports China's stance on the UN reform, that the reform should help the UN play a bigger role in the world, and has always firmly adhered to the one-China policy, he said.

Tazi also expressed his hope to see more Chinese investment in Morocco and other African countries, and invited more Chinese travelers to go to Morocco.

On the relations between the IPM and the Communist Party of China (CPC), Tazi said the exchange of visits and experience between the two parties in the past was very helpful for strengthening party-to-party relations, and the two sides should carry out more cooperation in the future.

China will host the first summit of China-Africa Cooperation Forum this year in Beijing. Tazi spoke highly of China's proposal to set up such a forum, which he said shows China's willingness to further consolidate and develop relationship with the African countries. He also said that Morocco will promote more meetings in such forms between China and the African countries.

Morocco will attend the Beijing summit and promote the forum with active efforts, in a bid to make it conducive to the interests of both the African and Chinese people, Tazi said.

The IPM delegation, at the invitation of the CPC, is paying a five-day visit to China from February 17 to 21. Besides Beijing, the delegates also visited the economic hub Shanghai in East China.
