The tropical storm Hermine has cut off electricity and water supply in northeast Mexico, the director of Tamaulipas' Civil Protection Salvador Tevino said on Tuesday.

However, industrial and trading activities in Tamaulipas were not interrupted despite the electricity and water cutoff. There was not any damages to highways and rural roads, said Tevino at a press conference.

About 2,300 people were evacuated from Matamoros and the municipalities of Soto La Marina and Aldama because of the pouring rains and winds with the speed of 100 kilometers per hour, Hermine caused floods in 115 districts of Matamoros.

The energy supply service was suspended in 80 percent areas of Matamoros because many trees and electricity equipment fell in the rain. The workers of the Electricity Federal Commission (CFE) are working to restore the service.

Meanwhile, the chief of Matamoros' naval zone, Alejandro Salomon Velmar told reporters that a ship with three people aboard was reported missing after Hermine made landfall.
