The Indonesian government has planned to grow over tens million of mangrove plants at coastal areas and to impose a stern action against those destroying the ecosystem at the areas in the archipelago country, a minister said on Friday.

Indonesian Fisheries Minister Fadel Muhammad quoted by Antara news agency as saying that the growing of the plants aimed at restoring the areas which had suffered from damages.

The minister said that his ministry would bring those destroying the ecosystem at the areas to justice.

"We will send businessmen, who have been proven to have involved in damaging the ecosystem at the coastal areas, to jail," he said at Pekalongan of Central Java.

To restore the ecosystem, the government had carried out a campaign to protect the life at the coast territory, said Fadel.

He said that many coastal areas had suffered from abrasion and many fish had disappeared from the location as their habitats had been damaged.
