The World Bank is to hold a one-day seminar on climate change for 100 youths across Nigeria, the News Agency of Nigeria reported on Saturday, citing an official.

Habiba Gitay, the climate change environmentalist of the institution, disclosed this to reporters in Abuja on Friday, saying the seminar would focus on building the knowledge of participants representing youth NGOs on climate change.

The seminar will also enlighten them on what action is required, she said.

According to the bank official, the seminar will also focus on importance of communicating to a wider audience that could take decisive action on climate impact on various economic sectors.

The participants, she said, would be expected to work on small projects such as behavioral changes needed to move towards climate resilient and low carbon development.

Iretomiwa Olatunji, a consultant on climate change at the institute, said the 100 youths were selected based on some special criteria that bordered on how they would impart the knowledge gained during the seminar in their communities.

The youths were selected across three geo-political zones, the south west, south east and the North,” he said.
