Newspapers

From 1950 to 2000, the number of newspapers increased nearly 11 times, which enabled China to rank among the world's most advanced countries in this respect. In 2002, the print run of newspapers in China reached 36.9 billion. Aiming at various groups of readers, the formats of newspapers are becoming more rich and colorful. Newspaper reorganization has developed in recent years. At present, 38 newspaper groups such as Beijing Daily Newspaper Group, Wenhui Xinmin Associated Newspaper Group and Guangzhou Daily Newspaper Group have been organized, with a series of their own subsidiary newspapers and magazines, forming distinctive and united newspaper and periodical groups.
