China opposes all arms sales to Taiwan by any country, said Zhang Mingqing, spokesman of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Wednesday.
Zhang said that over the years the United States had violated the principles of the three communiques governing Sino-US relations, especially the one signed on Aug. 17, 1982, by selling weapons to Taiwan and Taiwan authorities were unwise to buy weapons from the United States on various excuses.
Genuine stability in the Taiwan Strait and security in Taiwan, even the peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region, require are turn to the one-China position and the issue could be settled only after the realization of reunification, Zhang said.
