China to Issue 100 Independently-developed Online Games

China plans to issue 100 domestically developed online games in the next five years.

Featuring Chinese culture and characteristics, the games will involve Chinese historical and classical literature works, legends and some fun IQ tests, China Radio International reported Sunday.

About 16 online game development companies have already invested over 300 million yuan, some US$36 million, in the project.

The project is expected to promote China's online game industry's competitiveness in the international market.

The industry has seen robust growth in recent years, becoming a new growth point after the Internet information service sector.
