Tang Calls for Breaking Stalemate for Six-Party Talks
Adjust font size:

Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan on Monday called on the relevant parties for the Korean Peninsula nuclear talks to break the current stalemate and promote early resumption of the talks.

Tang told Paek Nam-sun, visiting foreign minister of North Korea, that the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue concerns the peace and stability of the peninsula as well as the northeast Asia.

"The important progress made in the six-party talks last year resulted from the joint efforts of relevant parties," Tang said.

He called on the parties concerned to make efforts to promote the resumption of the talks for a positive progress.

Paek is visiting China as a guest of Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing. During his stay, Li and Premier Wen Jiabao both held talks with him.

He also toured Guangdong Province, a boom area in south China, which North Korean leader Kim Jong-il visited in January.
