Stable Growth in Foreign Trade despite SARS
China registered a total foreign trade volume of US$65.45 billion, with a trade surplus of US$2.23 billion for the month of May.

The volume was up 39 percent over the same month last year, according to the latest statistics from State Customs.

The statistics show that exports in May rose 37.3 percent to reach US$33.84 billion, while imports increased by 40.9 percent to US$31.61 billion.

During the first five months of this year, the volume of foreign trade rose by 39.6 percent to US$309.34 billion, with a surplus of US$2.38 billion, according to the statistics.
