Officials to Declare Children's Overseas Study Expenses
Adjust font size:

Officials in Taiyuan, northern China's Shanxi Province, will soon need to declare expense including the cost of their children's studying abroad, as part of a campaign to build a clean government and fighting corruption, Xinhua reports.

According to the regulation, all government officials are required to declare such major personal matters as the building or purchasing of housing, sending their children to study abroad and paying for their wedding ceremonies.

Such expenses will be placed under the scrutiny of the public.

The regulation is also intended to prevent the families of civil servants from entering businesses, and to prevent safety-supervision corruption.
