The Chinese central government has increased investment in forest construction by one quarter over last year, reaching an estimated US$5.2 billion.
Most of the investment has been focused on key forest projects.
The State Forest Administration says total forest areas have already increased by about 6 million hectares this year, or about 60 percent of this years target.
