Journalists Donate Forest for North China City
An opening ceremony was held on Tuesday in Tongliao city, in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to celebrate the completion of a forest based on donations from journalists across the country.

The Chinese Journalists Forest is the result of the All-China Journalists Association proposing a donation about two years ago in an effort to back the country's campaign to improve the natural environment.

The forest consists of 750,000 trees and occupies an area of 14,000 mu (933 hectares or 2,305 acres) in the Horqin district of Tongliao city.

Zhang Wanzhong, local official in charge of publicity, said that the trees greatly helped the city withstand sandstorms and strong winds and had also strengthened ties between the city and the outside world.
