China to Censor TV Animation Production
Adjust font size:

The Chinese government is to facilitate domestic TV animation makers by accelerating its censoring, Xinhua was informed Friday of a regulation issued by the censors recently.

As of this August, a maker will know monthly whether it is authorized to produce a particular TV animation by putting on a record to the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) within the first five days of a month, the regulation prescribed.

Currently, the Chinese regulators approve TV animation production twice a year - in January and July.

"The move is aimed at improving the administration of the TV animation production and accelerating the development of China-made TV animation production," Ge Chen, a SARFT official told Xinhua Friday.

However, the regulators will not loose its control over the examination, he added.

The makers must submit an abstract for the animation-to-be with about 1,500 Chinese characters featuring the theme, main characters and plot to the SARFT, which will publicize the approved titles on its website, according to the regulation.

"The investors and makers can make more reasonable decisions whether they will make an animation considering both political and commercial factors on the basis of the information shared," the official said.
