People's Wishes to the New Leadership
There?s widespread interest among the people in the new leadership. In southwest China?s Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, many local residents gathered on the square to watch a live telecast of the press conference given by new General Secretary Hu Jintao and his teammates.

A senior Party member is very excited after he heard the party leader?s inaugural speech.

?All of them are between 50 and 60 years old. They?re well-educated, and have rich work experience. So I?m quite confident they can lead the country and people to build a wealthier society.?

People say the smooth leadership transition indicates that the CPC is a mature Party. It?s good for both the country and the people. Party Congress delegate Liu Siyang explains.

?There?re so many new faces in the central leadership. This is rare. I see vigor and vitality in new line-up. This is the CPC fresh image in the new century.?

This is also the impression of Shi Xingzhong from Shanghai. He has great hopes for the new leaders, and pays tribute to the previous leading team led by Jiang Zemin.

?The third generation of leadership made great contribution to the country?s development. Chinese people won?t forget this. And this time, the new leadership was elected, under their guidance, and with the Deng Xiaoping Theory and Three Represents as the guideline, our modernization drive will be further enhanced.?

Many people say they?re confident that under the Communist Party?s leadership, the country will maintain its rapid social and economic development and prosperity.
