The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced on March 16 that this year's Met Gala, scheduled to take place on May 4, has been postponed indefinitely as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Met Gala, also known as the Met Ball, is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City. It's timed to mark the opening of its annual fashion exhibit.

The celebrity-packed fundraiser is regarded as one of the most prominent and exclusive social events in the world.
