Adjust font size:

A total of 117 aftershocks after Friday's 5.2 magnitude earthquake jolted Akqi county in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from 6:02 p.m. to midnight, Friday, the county government said on Saturday.

No casualties have been reported, but 80 households have collapsed.

Seismological experts and regional officials were sent to the county for relief and investigation work.

Akqi is 40 km northwest to Kapin county, which was rattled by a 5.2 magnitude earthquake on Friday afternoon. The state seismological network said the quake occurred at the juncture of Kalpin and Akqi counties. No casualties were reported.

Sparsely-populated Kalpin is located in the Tianshan Mountains. It is about 1,200 km from the region's capital, Urumqi.
