People born between 1980 and 1995 have the preference of playing it safe and timid in their work and job hunt.

They prefer a stable job. They do not think money means success and are reluctant to sacrifice their personal life to earn more money.

They are only listeners in work and do not want to speak it out even if they have different views. In the job-hunting process, their preference is more obvious.

Li Jing, who is in charge of human resources in IBM for a long term gives two examples. There was an interview which has informed two graduates.

One didn’t come and when the interviewer called him, he said he forgot, “you should have reminded me one day ahead.” The second graduate came with her mom. Her mom said she accompanied her daughter because they lived far away. Her mom was waiting when her daughter was in the interview. She said she doesn’t feel relieved if she went back home.

The generation born between 1980 and 1995 are called Generation Y in the U.S.
