The obstacle in the process of implementing classification
According to the survey, 57.6 percent of people held the opinion that some technical matters led to the continuing delay in implementing internet content classification.
Hu Yong, vice professor at the Journalism and Communication College of Beijing University thought that it is difficult to define an accurate classification standard. Furthermore, there are billions of internet users, it is impossible to know what kinds of contents the users want to upload or download.
"What is impropriate content? As a 50 years old people, I must have very different opinions from young people." Dai Ou, the convener of Beijing Parents Exchange Center said, "As well as the opinion of parents, relevant departments should also hear ideas from the young people when defining the classification standards, which can reduce their resistance."
Last year China launched a national campaign against pornography on the Internet and relevant departments also have taken lots of anti-porn measures.
According to Professor Shen Qiyun from Beijing Normal University, enterprises have the responsibility to offer a healthy and safe internet environment for young people. Furthermore, children and young people should also strengthen their self-discipline and use the internet healthily and correctly.
As many as 44 percent of people surveyed are concerned internet ratings will restrict freedom of speech. Professor Shen Qiyun said, "Freedom is relative. We have the responsibility to restrict the negative or harmful things."
The survey also showed that 57.3 percent hope special websites for children and young people will be established; 46.8 percent support the internet real-name system and 46 percent believe more improved laws should be drafted to regulate supervision over the internet.
